Gillilan Addresses Fixing America's Infrastructure—Proactively— in Columbus Dispatch Editorial

In a June 1 opinion editorial for The Columbus Dispatch, OHM Advisors Practice Leader Sean Gillilan discusses how local communities, with funds from the recently-passed $1.9T American Rescue Act and the proposed $2.25T American Jobs Plan Act, might benefit from creating a long-term, proactive strategy for fixing infrastructure as opposed to spending reactively. Specifically, he suggests that:   

  • Communities that act proactively to create a long-term spending strategy fare better by being able to accommodate multiple purchases or projects within budget
  • Those communities save money in the long run and free funds for future projects
  • Cities like Kenton, Ohio that use a long-term strategy to turn a specific infrastructure repair job into a comprehensive project meant to improve the lives of all residents, attract new business, and bolster the local economy will create their best futures
