Northwest Corridor BRT: Connecting Central Ohio

Central Ohio is poised for significant, sustained growth in the coming decades. To manage this growth responsibly and equitably, the City of Columbus, COTA, MORPC, and other partners created LinkUs—a comprehensive transportation and development plan focused on fast, reliable public transit, walkability, and stronger community connections. Building on MORPC’s Insight2050 Corridor Concepts Study, LinkUs is shaping the region’s future.

As part of the LinkUs initiative, three Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridors are planned for the Columbus metropolitan area. OHM Advisors is helping design the Northwest Corridor, which will include a dedicated guideway BRT system and improved multimodal connections. This corridor will link downtown Columbus with Dublin in the northwest suburbs, improving access to jobs, housing, healthcare, and other regional destinations.

Early phases of the Northwest Corridor project focused on evaluating alignment options, identifying route termination points in Dublin, and assessing implementation phases. The preferred alignment links major destinations along the corridor, including the Arena District, The Ohio State University, Riverside Hospital, and Bridge Park in Dublin.

The current phase advances the design to 30% completion to help the project secure implementation funding for COTA and the City of Columbus to establish this vital regional transportation link. OHM Advisors is leading streetscape, multimodal, land use and planning analysis—building on the technical aspects of the Equitable Transit Oriented Development (ETOD) Analysis and Redevelopment Strategy completed by the OHM team and Vista Site Selection in 2024.
