Corporate Office Renovation Adds Open Space and Adaptability

Global healthcare conglomerate Cardinal Health has trusted OHM Advisors with the design of its corporate workplace environments for over 20 years, starting with the master plan for its campus expansion in Dublin, Ohio. Recently, our architecture group designed the renovation of its 401,000-sf South Campus, which is home to nearly 3,000 employees. In designing the office renovations to integrate with the existing Cardinal Health culture, our architects and interior designers worked closely with the client’s internal team to establish continuity across multiple locations.

The renovation transformed the building’s existing 57,000-sf floorplates into multiple intimate “neighborhoods” on each floor, organized around two “piazzas” offering a coffee lounge with a variety of casual seating that infuses the entire space with a culture of collaboration and flexibility. Workstations are carefully located across small group rooms, focus rooms and offices in a way that maximizes ample natural light throughout each floor. Movable furniture allows areas to be quickly transformed to facilitate impromptu meetings and foster employee teamwork and innovation. On the first floor, the lobby was completely repositioned to provide a secure waiting area and to create pre-function and lounge spaces outside of large meeting rooms. The first floor is also home to the IT clinic, a large employee cafeteria, a prayer and meditation room, a suite of rooms for nursing mothers, a walk-up medical clinic, showers and changing rooms and an employee activity lounge.
