2022 One Water Technical Conference & Expo

July 25 - 28, 2022

Huntington Convention Center, Cleveland, OH

Don't miss Ohio's premier four-day summer conference event for water industry professionals!

The discussion of equity in infrastructure is of paramount importance as our country works to utilize historic federal funding to repair infrastructure neglected for decades and to rebuild where past development split communities apart. Everyone in a region feels the negative impacts of deteriorated water lines and watersheds, roads and sewer pipes as well as the benefits of rebuilding where there is the greatest need, and water industry engineers can influence decision making about where to direct shared resources. By confronting biases and negative narratives that shape decision making, we are better prepared to see opportunities that have previously been overlooked.

Join our experts, Keshia Chambers and Alex Litofsky, along with co-presenters Christine Umerley and William Fussner of the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD), as they share the story of working to help rewrite the narrative of the underserved city of East Cleveland. The city suffered for decades from a vicious cycle of disempowerment that resulted in residents living with infrastructure conditions far worse than their neighboring communities. Learn how consultants invested in building trust with the community and assisted it with navigating funding application challenges to help people who care about rebuilding their community and are actively looking for ways to improve it.
