OHM Advisors' Engineer, Alisha Stidam wins ACEC National Scholarship

Alisha Stidam, an engineer in OHM Advisors’ Municipal Engineering group, won the $10,000 Jim Kleinfelder Scholarship from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) alongside eight other general scholarship winners across the nation. These scholarships are awarded annually to students pursuing their bachelor’s or master’s degrees in an ABET-accredited engineering or land-surveying program. Stidam is currently working on a master’s degree in civil engineering at Lawrence Technological University with plans to graduate in December.

A valued young professional on the firm’s municipal team, Stidam brings a fresh perspective to solving the large-scale problems of our nation’s degrading infrastructure. One of the things she’s most passionate about is managing assets that already exist through problem-solving—which she did recently in her work on a Michigan township project involving a full condition assessment and consulting on much-needed sewer rehabilitation. Stidam also channels her love of the outdoors into her work on projects that make nature accessible in a built environment, like a complex sidewalk design for a community seeking greater connectivity.

“It’s an honor to receive the prestigious Jim Kleinfelder ACEC National Scholarship,” Stidam says. “I look forward to completion of my master’s degree and am grateful for the support from ACEC at both the state and national levels that I’ve received along the way. I am enthusiastic about continuing my professional career under the community advancement firm with leading industry professionals.”

Stidam has been an avid community service volunteer since high school and continues to be involved with food drives, mentorship, fundraisers, internship programs and more.

“If there are opportunities to serve our community, why shouldn’t we?” Stidam says.

Here at OHM Advisors, we couldn’t agree more. We’re proud of Stidam’s receipt of this well-deserved scholarship and look forward to seeing her future accomplishments in the field of civil engineering.
