“Falls Edge Glass Walkway” Receives 2026 ACEC-Ohio Honor Award
Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park’s Newest Amenity Provides Dramatic Views
On February 19th, at its Annual Engineering Excellence Awards Luncheon in Dublin, Ohio, the Ohio Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC-OH) presented OHM Advisors and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources with a 2026 Honor Award for their contributions to the Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park Falls Edge Glass Walkway.
The Falls Edge Glass Walkway offers visitors to Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park unparalleled views of stunning rock formations, a waterfall, and gorge—all while preserving the sensitive natural environment. The site’s rugged terrain and remote location required the use of advanced 3D visualization tools like laser scanning to provide precise data on the site’s geology and other features that traditional surveying methods could not provide.
Since opening in May of 2025, the park has increased park visitation exponentially. This project illustrates how surveying technology and engineering creativity can advance environmental stewardship and community benefits. It’s an example of what can be achieved when technology meets thoughtful design. Congratulations to all involved with this impactful project!
