Project Spotlight

Extensive interceptor repair program for the Oakland Macomb Interceptor Drain for Oakland and Macomb countiesOakland Macomb Interceptor Drain Repair Program | Oakland and Macomb Counties, MI

OHM Advisors was part of a team that developed an interceptor repair program for the Oakland Macomb Interceptor Drain (OMID) for Oakland and Macomb Counties. Built in the 1970s, the pipe had deteriorated and had several sink holes along its 25-mile length. Its rehabilitation required the construction of four flow control structures and two access structures to stop flow during construction.

Our services included a survey of 35% of the interceptor length, preparation of easement documents, topographic mapping for two of the structures, and design of the bypass pumping station contained within one of the four flow control structures. The bypass pumping station is approximately 85 feet deep and is being constructed within a 50-foot diameter poured-in place concrete structure. A particularly challenging aspect of the design was the project schedule, which required 100% submittal for the survey and design within a three-month deadline to meet the client’s SRF funding requirements.
