Project Spotlight 

Downtown Streetscape and Transportation Plan | Newark, OH 

Newark Downtown Streetscape and Transportation Plan featured Planning projectConducted in concert with a multi-million dollar sewer separation project to improve aging infrastructure in downtown Newark, we created a downtown streetscape and transportation improvement plan. During the extensive planning and public outreach process, the existing auto-centric traffic pattern around Newark’s historic town square was identified as a barrier to development, so our team conducted a traffic study and recommended a solution.

True to our multidisciplinary abilities, we also provided design and construction documentation services for the streetscape and transportation improvement elements. Currently under construction, design features include lighting enhancements, pedestrian amenities, landscaping, and a sidewalk extension that accommodates on-street dining and entertainment. Roundabouts at the four corners of the square, anchoring the Licking Co. courthouse, will provide improved traffic flow and mobility.

Aaron Domini
Senior Planner 

aarondscaled Aaron has played a key role in developing a variety of plans for both urban and rural communities, encompassing community planning, economic development, and public policy. He leads planning projects that build community and promote new economic opportunities. Prior to joining OHM Advisors, Aaron served as a public sector planning administrator, which contributes to his savvy ability to create plans and codes that are easily understood – and implemented.

Passionate about including citizens at the heart of the planning process, Aaron excels at leading and facilitating public participation to build stewardship, consensus, and support. His emphasis on engaging the public yields plans rooted in market realities balanced by community values and aspirations. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at The Ohio State University Knowlton School of Architecture.

Forrest Gibson, PLA
Senior Landscape Architect

A 25-year veteran of the planning and design profession, Forrest has worked extensively as both a planning consultant and landscape architect in the private development industry, as well as for public entities focused on redevelopment and smart growth. He is an expert in master planning and entitlements for mixed-use development and has a passion for creating thriving places for people to enjoy the outdoors.

Forrest oversees the private land development side of our planning and urban design groups, also providing guidance to our multi-disciplined teams for all of our land-based planning and development projects. He guides the team in its market-driven planning approach rooted in the mindset that strategic economic development should be financially feasible with realistic development expectations.
