Detroit, MI – For the third year in a row, OHM Advisors presented to community leaders at the 2013 Michigan Municipal League Annual Convention. The convention was held at The Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center, September 17-20th.
Our topic “Secrets to Strategic Economic Growth: How Cities Can Attract and Retain Private Sector Investment,” addressed how communities can succeed in securing the means to attract future investment. The discussion, led by OHM Advisors’ VP of Planning and Design Jim Houk and Senior Planner Aaron Domini, touched on the creation of plans and development strategies that communicate the vision of communities and meet the bottom-line of the private sector. The firm’s recent work in the cities of Canton and Farmington, Michigan were provided as case studies.
More than 400 municipal officials attended the four-day convention. Dialog included the city’s bankruptcy and its impact on the state, as well as topics of placemaking, civic engagement, entrepreneurism, urban planning and socioeconomic development.
