OHM Merges with Bird Houk Collaborative
Livonia, MI and Columbus, OH – Orchard, Hiltz & McCliment, Inc (OHM) an engineering and architectural firm headquartered in Livonia, MI with additional offices in Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee announced a merger with Bird Houk, a land planning, urban design and architectural firm in Columbus, Ohio. The merger integrates OHM’s public-sector focused architectural design, civil, environmental and transportation engineering, surveying and GIS services to municipalities and agencies with Bird Houk’s award-winning architectural design, urban planning, and economic analysis serving both private and public sectors. OHM President John Hiltz said Bird Houk will retain its name becoming a “Division of OHM”. Founding partners Jim Houk and Gerry Bird, along with Gary Sebach and Anthony Slanec will become partners in OHM and will manage the Columbus Bird Houk/OHM Division office and team of 22 staff members, which will include engineers from OHM’s Columbus branch, at their Creekside Gahanna headquarters. Bird Houk is known throughout the mid-Ohio region for many signature projects, including Creekside Gahanna a large public/private partnership development, Cardinal Health, and smartgrowth developments, Jerome Village, and Saxony in the Town of Fishers, Indiana. According to Hiltz and Houk, the impetus for the merger was growth.

Dearing, Stevens and Williams Named Shareholders at OHM
Livonia, Michigan, December 2009 – Engineering and architectural advisory firm, OHM (Orchard, Hiltz & McCliment, Inc.) announces three new shareholders of the firm. Stephen Dearing, PE, PTOE, James Stevens, PE, and Tracie Williams, PE, were all elected new owners of the 47 year old consulting company.

OHM Loses a Founding Father
We're saddened to note the passing of one of OHM's original partners, Frank Papke. Mr. Papke dedicated 20 years of his time and talents to building the foundation that is OHM, serving from 1962 to 1982. We honor his achievements and the important role he played in the development of our company.

OHM’s Jonathan Kramer Named one of Crain’s 40 Under 40
Jonathan Kramer, OHM's Vice President of Operations, was recently named to the Crain’s Detroit 40 Under 40 list. Crain's recognized Kramer for his achievements and his ambition. At the tender age of 36, he's made history as the youngest person to be elected to the board of directors for OHM. Kramer graduated from high school at 16 and from college at 20. This year, 2009, marks 20 years of employment with OHM. Kramer is a licensed professional engineer with a degree from the University of Michigan, and is president of the Ann Arbor Chapter of the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers. He lives in Hamburg Township, where he served on the Planning Commission.

OHM’s Williams, Hoppe and Juidici Earn LEED AP Status
OHM’s Tracie Williams, Wayde Hoppe and Taryn Juidici were recently designated as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professionals by the U.S. Green Building Council. The LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) designation recognizes individuals, often in the design profession, who have mastered sustainable design principles for buildings. LEED is a voluntary, consensus-based system composed of five areas – site selection, water efficiency, energy systems, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality. The LEED system was created to enhance and protect the environment by improving air and water quality, actively reduce solid waste, and conserve natural resources.

Louis Meyette Joins OHM’s Hitch
Houghton, Michigan, February 2008 – Hitch, a division of OHM (Orchard Hiltz & McCliment, Inc.), announced that Louis Meyette, P.E. has joined its operation. Meyette is a licensed professional engineer with nearly twenty years experience in electrical and mechanical systems design, as well as construction project management. Recently, he has managed several noteworthy facility projects for the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and the Michigan Department of Management and Budget.

Russell A. Gronevelt, President of Orchard, Hiltz & McCliment (OHM), Inc., was appointed by the Governor on February 1 to represent the interests of ACEC/Michigan. "Mr. Gronevelt has extensive government and private industry experience in transportation, and will be an excellent ambassador representing the ACEC members," stated ACEC/Michigan Executive Director Ronald W. Brenke, PE. "Shrinking transportation dollars should be a major concern for Michigan and we applaud the legislature and Governor for creating a group to address this important issue". ACEC/Michigan is a member of the Michigan Transportation Team (MTT), a partnership of businesses, associations, and citizens linked with the common goal of improving Michigan’s transportation infrastructure.
