There is a perfect storm brewing that threatens our infrastructure and the economic health of our communities. Rapid land development in the second half of the 20th Century, combined with declining tax revenues, left much of our transportation, water and sewer systems in a state of decay. Climate change requires expensive retrofits to protect against flooding and sewer overflows. Reclaiming a first-rate infrastructure will require redeveloping where infrastructure currently exists and redirecting our financial resources to rebuild our cities, to a magnitude not seen since the end of World War II.
