The City of Southfield Council approved a team of national experts led by OHM Advisors to develop a plan for the redevelopment of the Northland Center property, the first mall in the country, in the southeast corner of Southfield, MI.
This 114-acre property was the world’s largest shopping center when it opened in 1954. Now shuttered, the City purchased the majority of the property and now controls the land, which they plan to redevelop.
OHM Advisors competed against eight team from across the county. Our planning team, led by Jim Houk, Vice President, and Aaron Domini, Senior Planner, assembled a team of experts in planning, market analysis, architecture, community engagement and branding.
The plan is to create an innovative mixed-use development containing office, retail and residential space. Expect big things from this world-class project!
